Welcome to the Web page of Trinh Xuan Thuan, an astrophysicist and professor of Astronomy at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. Born in Vietnam and educated in French high schools, Thuan is the author of many popular books, written originally in French and later translated into English, on the Universe and the philosophical questions it raises. Beside teaching and doing research at the University Virginia, Thuan is a also a frequent visitor to French astrophysical institutions such as the Institute of Astrophysics in Paris You will discover on this site the latest news on his various activities, on his writings, his interviews, and his invited talks.

TRINH XUAN THUAN WINS KALINGA PRIZE 2009 FROM UNESCO See details, links in french, english, vietnamese UNESCO – the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization – has awarded its 2009 Kalinga Prize for the Popularization of Science to University of Virginia astronomer and author Trinh Xuan Thuan; and to Indian physicist and educator Tash Pal.
TRINH XUAN THUAN RECEIVED IN NOVEMBER 2007 THE GRAND PRIZE MORON 2007 FROM THE FRENCH ACADEMY FOR HIS LATEST BOOK : "The Ways of light: physics and metaphysics of light and darkness” published by Fayard in Paris (2007)."
